Explore our youth sports and arts FAQ for answers to common questions about TIGAS, participation, Challenge Stations, events, and getting involved. Still have a question? You can contact the TIGAS team below.
WHAT IS TIGAS?
TIGAS stands for Together International Games of Arts and Sports. It is a youth-led inclusive initiative that brings together sports, arts, technology, culture, teamwork, wellness, and community participation through real-world challenges.
TIGAS is designed so different strengths matter and young people can participate, create, lead, and contribute in meaningful ways.
CAN A SCHOOL OR COMMUNITY ORGANIZE ITS OWN TIGAS EVENT?
That is part of TIGAS's larger vision. TIGAS is being developed as a model that can grow across communities while allowing individual events to reflect their own participants, venues, and local context.
The broader hosting model is still developing.
If your school, organization, or community is interested in hosting TIGAS, contact us below to discuss opportunities and learn more.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN TIGAS?
TIGAS is designed for young people with different abilities, interests, backgrounds, and strengths. Participants do not need to be athletes or have previous competitive experience to take part.
Activities are designed with inclusion in mind so participants can contribute in different ways.
DO I HAVE TO BE ATHLETIC TO PARTICIPATE?
No. Athletic ability is only one of many strengths that can contribute to a TIGAS team.
Challenges can involve movement, creativity, strategy, technology, communication, problem-solving, community participation, teamwork, and more.
WHAT ARE CHALLENGE STATIONS?
Challenge Stations are interactive team experiences at the core of TIGAS events. Each station presents a different kind of challenge and creates different opportunities for participants to contribute.
Challenge Stations do not need to be identical at every event. They can adapt to the venue, participants, community, culture, and available resources while staying true to the TIGAS spirit.
CAN YOUNG PEOPLE HELP CREATE OR LEAD TIGAS?
Yes. Youth leadership is a core part of TIGAS. Young people can take real responsibility in designing challenges, organizing experiences, leading teams, creating content, communicating ideas, and helping bring TIGAS events to life.
TIGAS youth roles include Host, Captain, Game Designer, Creator, and Producer.
